N-scale trains are a toy that is loved by children, and a huge number of adults get very much into them. One of the most important parts of playing with n-scale trains is the layout. This includes knowing how layouts can be expended, and the importance of decorating the track.

Different kinds of layouts

There are a huge number of standard n scale layouts for an n-scale train. The most common kind of layout is those that feature a circle or a figure eight pattern. From this basic layout, a whole slew of different kinds of designs can be made. The basic figure eight track can be changed so there are spur tracks to go in different directions, and other tracks can be laid in order to store train cars that are not in use. The layout can even include things like short cuts, rounded loops that go in different directions, and side tracks so trains can pass each other.

Decorating a layout

An n-scale train set is a toy that is meant to immerse the person in the idea of running the train to the point where they feel like the train is real, and that the area that the train is going through is an actual location. This means that a n-scale train set needs to be decorated. Some parts of the train set should be decorated so they show the train yard, and other parts should have things like water tanks. A train set can also have a sleepy little town for the train to go through, and some more dangerous train that the train will have to wind its way through.
